    The Department of Science and Technology (DOST) Caraga has recognized the role and contribution of the micro, small and medium entrepreneurs (MSMEs) in the region’s economy. Many of these enterprises are faced with challenge of finding the right markets, thus product promotion and marketing are necessary to help the entrepreneurs benefit fully from the increased production. Most of Caraga’s products especially those assisted by SETUP are only sold locally or available in the region. Entrepreneurs find difficulties in penetrating new markets or expanding its market base. Based on the feedbacks gathered from the MSMEs, one of the problems that they were facing is the lack of easily accessible and up to date information on packaging and label design thus leading to outdated, uncreative and inappropriate products.

     A product packaging design therefore is vital to the success of a company and to the success of the particular product that is being marketed. It has a very important influence in consumer purchasing decisions.
