The Department of Science and Technology (DOST) Caraga led by Regional Director, Engr. Noel M. Ajoc recently conducted the Grassroots Innovation for Inclusive Development (GRIND) and Saliklakbay Awareness Seminar in partnership with the Agusan del Sur College of Agriculture and Technology (ASSCAT) in Bunawan, Agusan del Sur.

The event aimed to introduce the concept of GRIND (Grassroots Innovation for Inclusive Development) to the community and educate them on the importance of grassroots innovation in promoting economic development in the region.

In his presentation, RD Ajoc underscored the significance of grassroots innovation in addressing pressing issues and challenges in the communities as he presented the GRIND program of the Department of Science and Technology (DOST). This program aims to document existing grassroots innovations in the Philippines and support the improvement and diffusion of these innovations to other communities. He also talked about the SalikLakbay that will be used as a tool in documenting the grassroots innovations that have been developed and used in the communities of Agusan del Sur.

Through GRIND, the DOST Caraga and ASSCAT will be able to effectively support and provide marginalized communities with the resources and support they need to develop and implement innovative solutions. 

The event was attended by the Provincial Director of PSTO Agusan del Sur, Engr. Andrea J. Cabonita, the ASSCAT President, Joy C. Capistrano, PhD., Vice President for Research, Innovation, Development and Extension (RIDE) Fernando L. Marzo, PhD., and several RIDE and ASSCAT Directors.
