Local Government Unit of Mainit, Surigao del Norte sees more opportunities for an inclusive, sustainable, and climate-resilient community with the turn-over of P2 Million funds from DOST Caraga under its Community Empowerment through Science and Technology (CEST) Program.

The CEST Program aims to empower communities through S&T intervention in the areas of health, education, economic development, agriculture, and disaster management. One of the beneficiaries of CEST Program is the Waterfall Homeowners Association in Brgy. Tolingon, Surigao del Norte.

Waterfall Homeowners Association President Octavio De Asis vows to exert more effort on improving their Pancit Making Project while working on the establishment of their facility through DSWD’s Sustainable Livelihood Program (SLP) which was temporarily stopped when typhoon Odette hit the province.

“We are very thankful to DOST Caraga for helping the livelihood of Brgy. Tolingon. I just want to say particularly to the recipients to take care of the fund and use it for the purpose of helping the community to grow,” said Municipal Mayor Crisanta Mondano of Mainit, Surigao del Norte as she commits to ensure all people in the community not only the organization will benefit from the project.
