Senior Citizens of Butuan City can now benefit from the data analytics and information system developed by Father Saturnino Urios University – Data Science and Analytics Center (DSAC), a DOST-PCIEERD funded project, upon its turnover to the Local Government of Butuan City on January 11, 2022.

This year, the data analytics and information system will be released after a series of tests and calibration of the system conducted by a team of researchers for the past two years. This DOST-funded project ensures immediate delivery of social welfare services to around 8,000 pensioners in the city. Data analytics allows the distribution of benefits to be managed more efficiently by using real-time information, which reduces the waiting time by 80 to 90 percent.

The data processing and analysis system will use and incorporate all available data from the Local Government Unit of Butuan. Among the target beneficiaries of the project are the senior citizens, the local government of Butuan City and the City Social Welfare and Development (CSWD), the Office of the Senior Citizens Affairs (OSCA), the City Health Office (CHO), and the barangays.

The Good Governance through Data Science and Decision Support System (GODDESS) program of the Department of Science and Technology – Philippine Council for Industry, Energy and Emerging Technology Research and Development (DOST-PCIEERD) has served as a catalyst for the realization of the said project.
