Twenty-five (25) researchers and medical practitioners from universities, colleges and institutions in Caraga region completed the writeshop on research proposal development in Grand Palace Hotel, Butuan City, June 28-29, 2018.
The activity entitled Writeshop on Research Proposal Development aims to guide budding researchers in writing publishable and fundable research proposals that are aligned with the priority areas for funding of the Philippine Health Research and Development Consortium (PCHRDC) and Caraga Health Research and Development Consortium (CHRDC).
Among the key activities include some lectures on the Regional Unified Health Research Agenda (RUHRA), possible local research policies, local research methods, how to write research and drafting capsule proposals.
The researchers presented 16 capsule proposals on health-related researches on the second day that were shortly evaluated by Dr. Rowena Varela, Vice President for Research and Extension, and Dr. Raquel Balanay, Associate Professor from Caraga State University.
The said proposals will be further evaluated by the Review Management Committee of CHRDC and will later be endorsed to the Regional Research Fund (RRF) for funding. If approved, the researcher can receive up to Php200,000 worth of research funding.
Given the lack of research-enthusiasts in the region, the activity encouraged the researchers in the region to “further drive towards health and health-related researches” in order to foster a healthier and a more productive living throughout the region through health research and development.
The writeshop’s speakers were Dr.Varela and Dr. Balanay of CSU, Municipal Health Officer of Trento, Agusan del Sur, Dr. Allen Salvatierra and Research Assistant of the Department of Health-Caraga, Dr. Gerna Manatad.
