DOST Caraga joins FSUU’s Tabuan Fair 2017

Butuan City—The Department of Science and Technology Caraga has accelerated the bar in promoting its programs, projects and services when it drew crowds of students during the Tabuan Fair 2017, September 13-15, at the CBS Grounds of the Father Saturnino Urios University.

The exhibit and selling fair paved way for DOST Caraga to showcase the programs, projects and services to students and faculty alike. Some 350 students and faculty dropped by the booth to check out the programs, projects and services of DOST.

Projects highlighted in the exhibit were—Science and Technology Scholarships, Food Innovation Center, Small Enterprise Technology Upgrading Program, Research Fundings and the PHIVOLCS Faultfinder.

A group of students posed questions in an interview with the DOST Personnel on the future directions of the agency for the youth. According to Kimberly Baliña, RxBox coordinator and DOST exhibitor, the agency aims to foster Science and Technology culture to the youth. One strategy is to increase the number of students who will opt for Science and Technology courses in the region. “We want to increase the number of graduates for Science, Technology and Engineering courses in the region,” says Baliña.

Students further inquired on the ongoing programs, projects and services offered to younger generation. A booth quiz show was also conducted where students were asked to name the acronyms of some of the Research and Development Institutes of DOST like PAGASA and PHIVOLCS.
