DOST Caraga, Winrock Int’l turn over food safety equipment

Representatives of the Local Government Unit of Cagwait, Surigao del Sur received 12 sets of food grade chopping boards and stainless steel butcher knives for the beneficiaries of the Food Safe Caraga Campaign, October 2.

The project has also given food safety trainings since last year to the first batch of 300 meat vendors and food handlers from the 13 municipalities in Caraga Region.

The in-kind grant is part of the food safety project of the Department of Science and Technology Caraga, in partnership with Winrock International-Philippine Cold Chain Project. The project, funded by United States Department of Agriculture (USDA), aims to ensure food safety in food handling and distribution not just by the processors but also by individuals in the communities in Caraga.
